Sunbury has something most growth areas do not: an established township with its own main street, wrapped in a genuinely distinctive landscape.
Parks and open space
Jacksons Creek runs through it.
Jacksons Creek and the Emu Bottom heritage area, with Organ Pipes National Park toward Bulla. The creek corridor gives Sunbury a green spine of walking trails, reserves and escarpment views that newer estates further out simply do not have. The Organ Pipes formations toward Bulla are a short drive south east.
Sporting reserves, aquatic and leisure facilities and community sport are concentrated around the township, so most households drive only a few minutes to get to them.
Shopping and services
Sunbury Square and Evans Street shops anchor day to day shopping, with supermarkets, cafes, medical and professional services in and around the main street.
Recreation
Creek trails, reserves, local sporting clubs and the heritage landscape around Emu Bottom give weekends a rhythm that is outdoors and close to home.
Family first
A median age of 38 and an average household size of 2.6 people in the suburb of Sunbury points to a settled, family weighted community rather than a transient one.
A town centre to come
On the eastern side, nothing is planned yet.
New town centres, parks and community facilities on the eastern side of Sunbury would only be delivered through an approved precinct. None has been declared, so nothing is scheduled. Today, the eastern side relies entirely on the existing Sunbury township.
